Here are some biographies of some of the many voices of the Spectrum vocal ensemble:
Rebecca is a mom of young kids who loves to have a little 'me-time' by singing her heart out and enjoying a great group of people every Monday night! She loves the challenge of it and the variety we sing, and comes all the way from St. Bruno because "there's only one Spectrum!"
Judy joined Spectrum in 2001 when she moved to Québec from Chicago. After many years as a professional dancer in company, theatre and opera she continues her lifelong love of music and performing. She now hails from Alexandria, On and says the professionalism and fun the group has is well worth the drive.
Kimberley is in her 3rd year with Spectrum. A 1st Soprano voice, she is no stranger to choirs, and started singing in grade 4. She has sung with the Hugenottenchor in Berlin, Germany, The Ottawa German Choir, and the Milton Choristers. Spectrum's exciting repertoire, and the wonderful people she has met there, will make Spectrum her singing family for years to come.
Ian is our 80 year old bass. Over the last 40 years, he has sung with The Island City Singers, the Retreads, Ensemble Vocale Dorval, Melodia and Spectrum. Ian also volunteers with West Island Citizen Advocacy.
Patricia has sung with the St. Lawrence Choir in Montreal, the Ascension of Our Lord Choir in Westmount, as well as various folk groups and choirs in Winnipeg. She has also acted in musical theatre and theatre productions in both these cities. In addition, Pat is a published writer who has read her poetry and stories in various venues in Montreal. She is a high school English teacher.
Ruth joined Spectrum only one year ago after retiring from the teaching profession. She has always loved listening to music and playing the piano. After a number of years singing in a church choir, she decided to take a leap, very happily discovering that she could keep up and thus thoroughly enjoying a variety of beautiful melodies in addition to meeting many talented fellow choristers.
Linda joined Spectrum in 2007 with great trepidation, because she lacked choral experience and for decades she had done little singing. By the end of her first year, she felt much better able to deal with the challenge, and now approaches each new season with excitement and confidence. A retired teacher, she is also active in Lakeshore Players, does Tai Chi and gardening, and has recently become obsessed with researching family history.
Monique joined as a Soprano in 2011 and is thrilled be a part of this wonderful, convivial group of talented singers. Her singing background includes karaoke, many church choirs, an occasional solo and loud songs around campfires. In her professional life, she is known as A Hope Coach and facilitates Life Skills Workshops and Support Groups. Her secret desire is to become a laughologist.
